Arabic Parts and Past Lives
In the 1980s, I developed a technique using 6 Arabic Parts to describe past life situations— and what the individual would be drawn to do in this lifetime based upon the past activities. I used to calculate these for each of my students and it was very popular. It is important to use the modern formula for these calculations. Do not consider Day and Night births for these formulas.
1) Part of Fortune: ASC + Moon – Sun
Since you are adding in the Moon, this describes instinctual patterns of achievement based upon the personality profile from past lives.
2) Part of Spirit: ASC + Sun – Moon
Since you are subtracting the Moon, this represents a new personality pattern to be developed in this lifetime.
3) Part of Status: MC + Moon – Sun
Since you are adding in the Moon, the past, this represents instinctual patterns for achieving power, prestige, status and recognition from past lives (a line of least resistence).
4) Part of Destiny: MC + Sun – Moon
Since you are subtracting the influence of the Moon, this represents new patterns to be developed along the lines of power an status in this lifetime.
5) Part of Bondage: ASC + Moon – Dispositor of Moon
An area to which you are psychologically and emotionally tied. It is very difficult for you to let go of this situation (determined by sign, house and any conjunction to a natal planet).
6) Part of Enmity: ASC + 12th House cusp – Ruler of 12th House cusp
This is where and why people do not like you. If it falls on a natal planet, that planet will cause you problems in relating. For example, this Part falling on Mars in Sagittarius may cause people to dislike you if you are too abrasive, too outspoken and lacking in tact.
For my students, I would meditate on these parts, integrate them with the natal chart, and try to see a Past Life/Present Life pattern. These were quite popular, as you can imagine, and even I was impressed with some of the feedback.
I remember one girl had a Part on a 7th House planet. Her chart showed difficulty in relationships. When I meditated on these Parts, I saw her as one of some man’s many wives traveling to Utah with the Mormons. I felt this caused problems in relationships as she had Uranus in the 7th.
That was quite strange but, when the girl heard this, she angrily confided that she had been raised in the Mormon church but had left the church because… and she went off on many hostile reasons and the history of many wives. We could not believe this. I found this so much fun but it was too much work and I did not continue this in the 1990s.
This is just for fun. I am not going to defend this concept. I did it for about 10 years. I do not know how I came up with this. It is completely an intuitive process.

Dear Lynn,
Can you explain how to find the dispositor of the moon as it is required in one of the formulas above?
Also, what do you think of the Arabic part or fixed star (widowhood) at 29 Saggitarius? My Mars is at 0 Capricorn in the 12th house. Many years (9/28/92) ago I left my dear husband (born 5/27/47 at 6:35 pm Providence, RI) stupidly over my obsession with someone else, reunited with him in June of ’03, yet failed to revive our marriage, remaining detached “friends” due to confusion over my life purpose, and guilt/regret. As I was talking of moving to Europe, my husband died suddenly on 3/17/06 around 8:30 am. Now I have even more guilt and regret.
I was born in Providence at 12:53am on 4/14/54. My paternal grandfather was also born on the same date and day of the week (Wednesday) in 1875 in Nova Scotia. He abandoned his wife and four sons in 1918 and died a transient when hit by a car on 3/25/35. What do you make of all this, if it is of any interest to you in your field..?

Hi, Lynn, I checked my part of spirit it falls at 26 d virgo (but thats for pm births) that one falls in my second house
but you said we had to minus the moo, and that is for am births at the nonend calculator arabic site,
so did that one too, but that works out to 20 d cancer and that would conjunct my part of fortune???? and falls into my 11th house
now same with the part of destiny….
i did the pm one (i forgot to say i was born in canada at 21:57)
it works out to gemini 15 degrees (nice one it opposes my sun)
falls into my 10th house
am one if you take out the moon
this one is at aries 9 degrees falls into my
into my 8th house
i don’t know how to do the math for the other suff but I will try to figure it out myself. Thanks again

Once again you have asked a very good question. I do not use Day/Night charts for calculating these Parts. So, do not make the adjustment. Frankly, I do not find that this technique works for me.
My Part of Fortune is in the 10th House, not using the am/pm correction. This fits me better than using the Night calculation that puts it in the 4th House.
So, with the calculations, do not take Day/Night into consideration. I did not do this in the 1980s when I used this technique.
This is an intuitive technique so it may be easier to experiment with friends and not yourself, until you feel confortable with this process.

Hi Lynne, you know, it might make some sense, cause having it in the fifth house, seems more right , but I will try that out.
