EYES – Age Related macular Degeneration

MACULAR DEGENERATION (eye disease) RESEARCH

I am collecting data on Macular Degeneration. I need birth data and year of onset. Your help in this research is greatly appreciated.
This post has medical findings and, at the end, I have my astrological research. This research in ongoing so I will always be adding more information.

EYES & VISION:

Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is one of the leading causes of vision loss in older adults and a person’s risk may partly depend upon diet.
When it comes to carbohydrates, quality rather than quantity may be more important.

The researchers looked at the total amount of carbohydrates consumed over 10 years and the dietary glycemic index, which is a measure of the quality of overall dietary carbohydrate.

“Women who consumed diets with a relatively high dietary glycemic index had greater risk of developing signs of early age-related macular degeneration when compared with women who consumed diets with a lower dietary glycemic index.”

“In other words, the types of carbohydrates being consumed were more important than the absolute amount,” explains Taylor, senior author. A high-glycemic-index diet is one that is rich in high-glycemic-index foods, which are converted more rapidly to blood sugar in the body than are low-glycemic-index foods.

MACULAR DEGENERATION:
Treatment with aspirin or statins may help prevent blindness in patients with age-related macular degeneration (AMD), according to a new study.

Statins are made from RED RICE YEAST, which you can purchase at the health food store. If there is an allergy to Statins, it causes muscle pain.

AMD & INFLAMMATION:
Women who develop age-related macular degeneration may have higher blood levels of markers related to inflammation before they begin showing symptoms of the disease, according to a report published in the March issue of Archives of Ophthalmology, one of the JAMA/Archives journals. Debra A. Schaumberg, Sc.D., O.D., Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School, Boston, and colleagues, measured three markers of inflammation-high-sensitivity C-reactive protein, soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1 and fibrinogen-in the blood of 27,687 women (average age 54.6) without age-related macular degeneration (AMD), a condition in which the part of the retina responsible for sharp vision begins to deteriorate. After an average of 10 years of follow-up, women who had the highest levels of these three markers in their blood were most likely to develop AMD.

GLAUCOMA:
A Brazilian study has found that Mozart music improved patients’ performance in a sight test aimed at checking peripheral vision of people with glaucoma. You can read about this study in the British Journal of Ophthalmology.

ANTIOXIDANTS:
Scientists at Johns Hopkins have successfully blocked the advance of retinal degeneration in mice with a form of retinitis pigmentosa (RP) by treating them with vitamin E, alpha-lipoic acid and other antioxidant chemicals

ZINC DEPOSITSMACULAR DEGENERATION & ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE
An international research team including scientists at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston (UTMB) and the Galveston-based spinoff Neurobiotex, Inc. has found high levels of zinc in deposits in the eye that are an indication of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) – the leading cause of blindness in the elderly in the developed world.

An early sign and a presumed trigger of the eye disease is the formation of microscopic plaques, called “drusen”, in the eye. Exactly what these plaque-like drusen do and why they form is not yet fully understood, the researchers noted. “We have discovered that the drusen in the eyes of those with AMD have very high levels of zinc,” said van Kuijk, associate professor in the UTMB Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences.

Zinc previously had been shown to contribute to the formation of brain plaques in patients with Alzheimer’s disease – AMD can be considered “the Alzheimer’s disease of the eye,” in that both disorders involve the aggregation of misfolded amyloid proteins and metals like zinc and copper into microscopic clumps called plaques.

ASTROLOGICAL SIGNATURES:
1 – Rulership: Sun-Moon-Neptune-Aquarius/Uranus
a. Right Eye is Sun in Male; Moon is Right Eye in Females
b. Optic Nerve is ruled by Sun-Neptune; Mercury and Aries/Mars
2 – Cancer and Aquarius are dominant sign in samples so far
3 – Moon-Mars aspect, including inconjunct (wide orbs allowed, if not out of sign)
4 – Mercury-Saturn in Cancer and Leo; 3rd House

AMD changes how we view the world. One sample have Mercury turning Retrograde at the time of the onset.

If the natal signature is Neptune, the transit of Neptune will be the trigger. If the natal signature is Uranus, the transit of Uranus will be the trigger.
In samples, there was always a transiting Pluto hard aspect accompanying the signature trigger.

ONSET SAMPLE: Progressed Mercury turned Retrograde; Progressed New Moon in natal 6th House but Progressed 5th (eyes); Prog Asc changed signs (progressed sign changes can trigger health issues).

The Progressed Sun and Moon lined up to afflict Saturn. I have found a progressed Sun-Moon hard aspect together can affect the health. The Progressed Sun-Moon afflicting Transpluto triggered my 2-year bout with Epstein-Barr Virus.

This also works with aspects. My wife is an N.D. She is presently working on a case of a lady who was diagnosed with a neurological disorder. This patient was born under Saturn conj Uranus and the onset of this disorder was in 1987, when the same conjunction was up in the sky. I couldn’t believe it (Uranus is associated with transport of information along the myelin layer).

neighbor’s birthdate

Postby Paula » Fri Sep 12, 2008 2:15 am

I have a neighbor who has this condition. Her birthdate is August 24, 1930. I do not know exactly when onset occurred but I believe it was possibly around a year ago. Her doctors tell her she needs to eat an egg a day to slow down the degeneration. I deliver to her home farm fresh eggs! I’m getting to the point that I don’t want to take her eggs, though, because all I ever hear when I go is all of her health problems. She won’t stop talking about it! It’s hard to listen to, and she’s so lonely she doesn’t want to let me leave once I’ve stopped by.

I could be totally wrong on the date of onset and I probably will never be able to get her time or place of birth. Hope that helps you a little bit, anyway.

Paula – Health problems take over your entire life. I have been there and I was aware that, because the only thing going on in my life was my health crisis, this is all the I talked about. The only solution for this is to get her off this topic and talking about something else… but this is not easy.

Astrologically, the signature is the Sun-Moon-Neptune conjunction in Virgo. The first trigger occurred as early as 2006 with Saturn in Leo and Neptune in Aquarius afflicting Ceres/Chiron. Chiron rules health issues that you must learn to life with. In late 2007, the next trigger was Saturn crossing the Virgo planets. These aspects indicate dietary problems. Generally, the Night Shade foods should be avoided — potatoes, tomatoes, eggplant and peppers. These thin the intestinal wall so toxins can seep into the blood stream.

There is also a Cardinal Cross so she needs crisis in her life – it is a way of life from childhood.

MACULAR DEGENERATION: Claims of reversal with a supplement called Vitalux. Eye specialists often carry it.

Low Glycemic diet and anti-inflammatory diet. If detected early, new breakthroughs in medicine are extremely helpful. Eat Blueberries & blackberries. The National Eye Institute (NEI) reports that high doses of antioxidants slow the progression of AMD or may even prevent it altogether.

+ Reduce homocysteines with B6, B12 (sublingual, under tongue application best) and folic acid (1000 mcg daily).
+ Life Extrension’s Super Zeanxathin with Lutien is specifically for the macula of the eye.
+ Bilberry Extract

Macular Degeneration update

Postby lynn koiner » Tue Sep 16, 2008 2:29 pm

I just purchased a new book by Suzanne Somers, BREAKTHROUGH. It is a must-read for anyone interested in holistic health.
In the very beginning, with an interview with Dr. Jonathan Wright, he states that MD finds its roots in poor absorption. This is a disease that starts in the stomach!

Research noticed a very high-risk factor for people who took anti-acids — neutralizing the very acids needed to breakdown the nutrients in our food.

His cure is taking Hydrochloric Acid. This can be purchased at a health food store. Often, if not too severe, the increased nutrition will repair the eyes. This doctor often gives vitamins intravenously and this causes an immediate improvement. An important missing nutrient is SELENIUM.

This is something so easy to do and it can make a difference. Many health conditions start with poor absorption so this is something that we can all do. Right now, I take Solaray SUPER DIGESTAWAY. It has elements for digesting many different foods but hydrochloric acid is good too.

Macular Degeneration

Sophia

I have the illness – my diagnosis was on 9.1.1998.

My birth information is 7.15.1942 10:15 AM, Kaiserslautern, Germany.
I have lived in the US, Fort Myers, FL, since 1985.

When I found your site, I read that you where looking for more cases of WMD.

The article suggest that high glycemic Carb’s contributes to the illness, not in my case I have been a health nut all my I life hardly ever eat “white” products such as rice, bread, I do not eat sugar I am a very careful eater!

However I have kept it from progressing with Micro current stimulation and lots of herbs and vitamins, plus Chinese Herbal food!

I have WMD in my right eye and dry MD in the left.

I first noticed the dark circle one day as I was working in my office. So the Diagnoses was on 9.1.1998, Fort Myers, FL. more then 10 years ago.

I have collected much information from different doctors on how to treat myself. I found Dr. Edward Kondrot’s Books the best.

I am very fortunate to have found a local doctor here in Fort Myers where I live who is willing to allow me to be monitored by him while I treat it naturally.

So far I have been successful to not have it advance. Presently I use the eye formulary from “Vitacost” I have used vitamins and herbs from may different MD’s, plus Dr. Williams, Andrew Lessmans, plus more in the past. I am very impressed with Vitacost formulary. I am spending a lot less $ since I use these.

I started on the Sunrider Chinese herbal food in the last week in Dec of last year. Unfortunately it is very pricey so I can only afford to eat it 1 to 2 X per day. I now do not see the circle as dark as before. So I think this might be the missing link for me personally.

Since I found out trough an Iridology reading that I experience malabsorption. And the Sunrider food is prepared to be absorbed very easily.

Bitching at my Doctor one day “Why me, everyone knows I am a health nut”. His answer was just think about it if you had not lived healthily you might have gotten the illness sooner! I keep that in mind and I am gratefully for have been as heath conscious as I have been trough my live.

This illness is not in my family, I have never baked myself in the Sun, I have never smoked, I have always lived healthy even as a child (we did not have the money to buy junk food growing up). However I did find it in my Chart through Ebertin’s book on health!

I highly recommend to anyone Microcurrent stimulation. The little machine is the size of a credit-card the cost is about $800.00 from a MD in New Paltz, NY. I use my device daily no matter where I am. I do believe this is one of the main reasons why I have kept it from advancing.

Lynn, if you have additional information on what I can do, I will be very grateful for the information and give it a try, my plans for the future do not include going blind.

I also would like to know the pricing on your Medical Astrology classes, I am interested in learning more about Medical Astrology

First, I am going to give some links that might be helpful to people to come to this site for information…

I know someone who had the acupuncture treatment by this doctor in New Mexico and swears by it.

Jane says she still has macular degeneration but her vision has greatly improved with this treatment. There is no cure and genetics does play a role.

The supplements and diet the NIH study recommends can be found on the first page of this article.

Read Suzanne Somers’ book, BREAKTHROUGH!

Now, Sophia, I see that you have done a lot to keep this disease from progressing. Everything I know at this time is on this Forum already.

In looking at your chart for the time of onset, you had been experiencing hard Uranus transits. Uranus always produces inflammations. The Sun/Leo and Moon/Cancer rule the eyes — the Moon rules the left eye in men and the right eye for women. The Sun is the reverse. In a positive way, the inflammations of Uranus stimulate us to be so antsy that we HAVE to make changes in our lives. In the negative, the inflammations cause damage to the body.

Neptune in Virgo squares your Mercury-Venus in Cancer. This combination is associated with a thinning in the intestinal wall so that toxins leak out and cause inflammations. Edgar Cayce discussed this many times in his readings. Avoiding foods in the Nightshade family is essential.

Later, I will give some other recommendations for this Intestinal Permeability as I have come to see this as a bigger issue in many health problems, especially since Cayce mentioned this so many times in his readings. Dr. John Pagano has worked with the Cayce readings for many years with incredible results.

But, first, the easiest is to eat an alkaline diet. This helps with toxicity that builds up. And, avoid potatoes, tomatoes, eggplant and peppers — the Nightshade family always depletes the lining of the intestinal wall. However, this wall is very good at repairing itself.

Re: MACULAR DEGENERATION (eye disease) RESEARCH

A friend has had dramatic improvement using a technique, a specific type of acupuncture that stimulates a part of the brain that assists with vision. A mutual friend sent this and I am passing it on for those interested in Macular Degeneration techniques…

“I remember that you have a client who has AMD and asked you about it. Here’s more information on the macular degeneration treatment that “a friend” received. After Dr. Lundgren reviewed her medical records and determined something could be done, she and her husband went to Santa Fe to receive the 5-day treatment in one week. She was told not to pay anything until the treatment was over and noticeable improvement had occurred. She swears by it and I’m considering making the trip sometime in the spring.”

“My own acupuncturist is not familiar with Dr. Lundgren’s work (he will be) but he also assured me acupuncture has the greatest success before physiological changes have taken place. Given that my AMD is in the early stages, now or sometime in the not too distant future would be a good time for me to have the treatment.”
